GREETINGS, CLUB HEADS!
It’s been a while! Shawn and I (this is Mac) have been hard at work on The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza: The Book. It’s all done, and it’s coming out in May, and we’ll let you know more about it soon. In case you haven’t seen the cover yet, here it is:
Meanwhile, we wanted to send out a First Cat Fan Letter. Read on for Arts & Crafts, A Sweepstakes We Have Nothing To Do With, Fan Cartoons, and more!
HOW TO MAKE A ROCK
Club Head Sage sent me a package that contained a wonderful gift: a paperweight/action figure/artistic masterpiece. Check it out—it’s the Rock from Episode 11 of The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza!
This guy lives on my desk and I’m never giving him up. But if you want to make your own, we’ll show you how! OK, it’s Arts & Crafts Time!
Step One: Find a Rock
Head outside and find a rock that is a good shape and size. In my opinion, the rock Shawn picked is way too big, but he seems excited.
Step Two: Draw the Rock’s Face
A Sharpie is probably best, but I know not everyone is allowed to use Sharpies. Plus the Sharpie is probably going to be toast by the time you’re done drawing on a rock. So make sure you’re not going to get in trouble for 1) using a Sharpie or 2) destroying a Sharpie. Certain paints would work well too!
Anyway, here is a drawing guide from Shawn.
Step Three: Enjoy!
ARC GIVEAWAY
ARC stands for Advanced Reader’s Copy, and it’s an early paperback version of a book that goes out to reviewers and journalists before the real thing gets published. Our good friends at Harper Collins asked us to pass on the news that the website Goodreads is giving away ten ARCs of The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza. You can read our book before it even comes out! I don’t really know any of the details because I have blocked Goodreads on every computer I own. But I hope when you click that link, everything is clear. Also, I hope you win! And if you do win, I hope you enjoy the ARC and maybe even feel compelled to leave us a nice review on Goodreads, which neither of us will ever see, because I showed Shawn how to block Goodreads on his computer too. Best of luck, everyone!
FAN CARTOONS
You all continue to make Live Cartoons that make us laugh, make us cry, and also make us sweat because they are so good that we feel like we need to up our game. Today we are featuring the work of Club Head Baxter, who explores new frontiers of paper engineering and does great voices too. Get ready for… The First Robot in Space Met LOZ 4000!
MAIL CORNER
Do you have a question for Shawn & Mac about The First Cat in Space? Reply to this email and ask! It might be answered in a future Mail Corner.
Today we’re not answering any questions in Mail Corner, because we just started this whole question-asking program. Please help us make sure that future Mail Corners are better than this one, which honestly is feeling like kind of a bust.
GOODBYE
Thanks for reading the whole Fan Newsletter! Since you made it this far: Today’s SECRET CODE WORD is “MEOW.” What do you do with the SECRET CODE WORD? Send an email to livecartoonshq@gmail.com and use the SECRET CODE WORD in the subject. We’ll pick one of you, at random, and send you a signed ARC. (Goodreads isn’t the only one who can do ARC Giveaways!)
