Finally! Free preorder goodies, a book tour, and new merch.
The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom will be published soon and we have a bunch of stuff to tell you about, including a very cool preorder offer and our book tour. Here’s what the book looks like:
OOH SPECIAL PREORDER
We are very excited about this: If you preorder The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom, you will get a set of four erasers: First Cat, Moon Queen, LOZ 4000, and Captain Babybeard. Those pencils aren’t included—we just put them in the image for demonstration purposes. Wow, they really spruce up a pencil! (Those demonstration pencils are made out of spruce so that was a really good joke.) As always, we encourage you to buy books from your favorite independent bookshop (speaking of which, if you work at an indie, we made printable shelf talkers for you).
To get your erasers, simply preorder The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom and upload an image of your receipt here.
🌍 🌏 🌎 Unless you live outside the United States! In that case, please place your preorder through Blue Willow Bookshop, one of America’s finest independent bookstores. Blue Willow is the only shop handling international preorders, dispatching books and erasers across the world!
If you’re planning on buying a copy of the book, please consider preordering. Because of the way publishing works, preorders “count extra” to a book’s success—they really help the book get out there and find readers. Plus you’ll get those erasers!
BOOK TOUR
We are going on the road! We are putting on a big show! Here is a list of events. Please note that these events are ticketed, so reserve now! Tickets come with a signed copy of the book. And also: Tickets do qualify as preorders, so you can submit your receipt here and get the erasers. (I have never talked about erasers so much in my life. On the other hand, I have never been more excited about erasers.)
What can you expect from the events? There will be drama. There will be songs. Will there be choreography? Hoo boy. It’s too early to say for certain, but I’m surprised that my answer is… maybe! We want to do something special for our readers, so we’re trying to do a show that’s bigger (and better 🤞) than a “classic reading.” We so loved meeting our readers last year, and we’re looking forward to getting together to laugh and sing and say hello. If you’re able to make it, we hope you’ll come.
Also: If you come dressed as your favorite character from the books, we’ll have a gift for you. Last year someone came as the whale!
SPECIAL “PITTSBURGH ONLY” SECTION
This section is only for people who live in Pittsburgh or enjoy traveling to Pittsburgh for book events. Although Pittsburgh is not listed on the poster, we are visiting Pittsburgh later, after the tour, as part of Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures. These tickets are free, but they do not come with copies of the book, and therefore do not count as preorders, so you’ll have to preorder “regular style” if you want erasers (Eraser Talk). Sorry this is so complicated, Pittsburgh. If, despite the header, you’re reading this section even though you don’t live in Pittsburgh, I just saw that you can register to watch this event online, so it wasn’t all for nothing!
